| ABOUT US |
|
Emilia’s Kids started out in 1997 as World C.O.L.O.R.S., a small private practice serving primarily children on the autistic spectrum. In 2000, Emilia’s Kids moved to a new location and adopted its new name, in honor of Emilia Sanchez, grandmother of Tanya M. Sanchez, owner and founder. The center was created in Emilia’s home and it was designed with family in our mind and in our hearts. The long journey that families undergo brings many therapists and consultants into their lives and Emilia’s Kids tries to be a stable part of that journey. We have been in practice for over 10 years and have served some children for over 10 years also. Emilia’s Kids is an establishment that looks to grow with their students and provide support for their families. |

Emilia’s Kids staff has been providing developmental/rehabilitative services to the pediatric population through the New York City Board of Education and Nassau County. We currently service over 200 children ages 3 and above for speech therapy, occupational therapy and physical therapy. We have just undergone major renovations in 2006 and we now have a gross motor gym with rock climbing wall, monkey bars and a slide, a sensory gym with swings, ball pit, and sand/water tables, a yoga/blacklight sensory room, and improved private speech therapy rooms. |

Tanya M. Sanchez, MS CCC-SLP is the founder of Emilia’s Kids. Her vision was to start a clinic where children could receive the best in therapeutic practices. Consequently, Emilia’s Kids has evolved into one of the clinics that offers intensive training and support for therapists. Our therapists have a home and are able to better serve the community because of our support. Emilia’s Kids competitive advantage is our quality of service and our willingness to support and train other therapists. As a therapist herself, providing EI home based and BOE services doe 12 years, Ms. Sanchez, understands the needs of the therapist. She invests time and a little bit of herself in all of them, because they represent Emilia’s Kids. An agencies reach into the community only goes so far as their therapists reach. Ms. Sanchez extrinsically challenges all her therapists to learn more, to care more, to be the best therapist they can be. |

Emilia’s Kids has extensive experience serving Special Populations such as medically fragile, visually impaired, deaf and hard of hearing, motor disabilities, such as cerebral palsy. Our clinical supervisors, Tanya M. Sanchez, Maryann Sucich and Imrul Kabir, have over 26 years combined medical and educational experience in dealing with ‘special populations.’ They are all well trained and have experience and ease in training other therapists in dealing with these populations. Emilia’s Kids supervisors are available to observe and supervise cases as requested by parents and therapists. We have gone to clinics, schools, hospitals and homes in order to better serve our children and their families. Some of our clients are non-ambulatory, and severely delayed with visual, hearing and feeding impairments. |
